The wrestling team is starting off this season strong and ready. “I’m really looking forward to it, we’ve had a bunch of guys in the program for a long time,” said head coach Doug Fisher. During the off season the team has completed camps, practiced after school, wrestling all off season and also doing other sports like football. “I think we’re going to do pretty well, we have a lot of upperclassmen and a lot more experience this year,” said Sam Fisher.
Freshman DJ Richards has just joined the wrestling team this year, “I feel like we have a solid lineup from light weights all the way up to heavy weights,” says DJ. As the team continues to progress, they feel more confident going into the season. Fisher, along with the few that were asked, say they work all offseason as well as do other things to get ready.
“I feel that we will be pretty strong, we’ve got guys coming in from lower weights and we have very experienced guys in the upper weights,” said senior David Dewald.
Many of the team members are looking forward to a states win this year. The team won districts and regionals last year and only lost one senior. “We have a bunch of talent coming back this year and I believe we could be pretty successful this season,” said Fisher.
There will be many things coming their way this season as they continue to work hard. “There’s a bond that you don’t get in other sports that you get from wrestling, even though its an individual sport you’re still a team,” said Dewald.
