Q: What inspired you to start playing basketball?
A: My dad introduced me because he just had a love for the game. I just played with my dad a lot, and I started to take it seriously in 8th grade, and then I started training in the summer and I started to get better.

Q: What is your favorite part of playing basketball?
A: Just getting those wins, like I felt last night, because it’s Senior Night and I’m a senior. Also, the way that we just work together and help each other, and me and Zach, who’s a senior too; we just feel so good because we know that we put in so much work and it’s paying off.

Q: What position do you like to play the most?
A: I like point guard, because I start the motions to get the shots and I also like making the shots myself.

Q: Who is your biggest role model in the sport?
A: I’d say my dad. Regardless of sports, he’s taught me how to work hard in life, sports-wise and in general.

Q: How do you handle losing a big game?
A: You can’t fix the past, so you have to learn how to deal with it. If I have another chance with the team we lost against, I’ll try to fix my mistakes and win the next one.

Q: What has been your proudest moment as a basketball player so far?
A: There isn’t really a single game that has been my best moment so far, but I think that anytime that I’ve been able to successfully help my team win is one of my proudest moments.

Q: Do you have any advice for aspiring young basketball players who want to make it to the NBA one day?
A: I would just say keep working. You’re going to be uncomfortable but those uncomfortable situations will make you better. You can’t grow if you’re always in your comfort zone. Always work as hard as you can with whatever you have.

Q: What’s the best piece of advice anyone ever gave you about playing basketball?
A: It was that I had to be myself, and that I had to be confident and not let mistakes break me down. They also told me that I shouldn’t think too much about mistakes I can make or else I’ll most likely mess up anyway.

Q: When you’re not playing or practicing, how do you stay in shape?
A: I’ve been going to the gym recently, and I started lifting weights and things like that.

Q: What is your favorite drill to do in practice?
A: I’d say scrimmages are my favorite.

Q: What’s your favorite thing to do after a big win?
A: I like to be able to digest the moment with my teammates and just cheer for each other.

Q: What are your plans for basketball in the future?
A: If I get the opportunity to play in college, I’ll definitely go for it. I also have a backup plan where I will become a physical therapist that helps athletes that got injured in their sport because I just want to help people recover and get back to playing the sport that they love.
