Math teacher Mesfin Tadesse has come to FHS after previously teaching in Maryland and DC.
Born in Ethiopia, Tadesse moved to the United States in 1991. After working as a dishwasher in Georgetown, he was promoted to cashier and then to manager. Tadesse eventually bought the restaurant, where he served many guests including former President Bill Clinton’s daughter, Chelsea Clinton. “She was in eighth grade, and she used to come to eat at my restaurant. So she knows me by name,” said Tadesse.
Tadesse loves to travel, fish, hike and bike. His favorite place is Sweden. “It is clean, has nice weather, and it is a very lovely place,” said Tadesse.
Tadesse wants students to know that he is caring, loving, and patient. “If they know that, they will have a good relationship with me. Then, they will feel comfortable to ask me if they don’t understand something,” said Tadesse.
