Every Thanksgiving the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is held on 34th street in New York City.

A Day in the Life: Thanksgiving at Kolb’s House

To this day, every Thanksgiving, since I can remember, I watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and dog show with my family. Since I am a dancer, the Rockettes have always been my favorite part of the parade, and of course seeing Santa at the end.
After a relaxing morning of watching the parade, the cooking begins. I help by making the food, and in particular the fluff, a certified vegetable in my house. Fluff is a passed down recipe that is a mixture of pudding and jello mixes with other top secret ingredients I cannot reveal. Every major holiday you better expect to see fluff on the table.
Following dinner, we watch A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving along with a delicious slice of pumpkin pie. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays because I am able to spend time with family and eat good food. Each year my extended family comes down to visit me, to help give thanks and celebrate love, family, and gratefulness. It’s these traditions that my family carries from year to year that make Thanksgiving such a special holiday.
