On October 28, FHS held Freshmen Orientation from 9a.m. – 3p.m. in three social distanced sessions with masks. The freshmen and their parents walked through the Falcon tunnel into the gym lobby.
A welcome orientation was held in the auditorium, like usual. Principal Kraig Kelican introduced the staff, guidance counselors and the custodians. He also discussed the changes and new rules students are expected to follow this school year. Some of these included the use of appropriate masks and social distancing, removal of homeroom, rotating lunch schedules and closure of locker rooms, resulting in students participating in gym class in regular clothes. Kelican also explained the staggered bus release and arrival and completing the student self-assessment before coming to school each day.
After Kelican finished his presentation, the parents and freshmen were taken on a tour of the school by the Student Council Association (SCA) and able to ask questions. The freshmen received a pamphlet of all clubs and activities offered at FHS and a free t-shirt.
When the group orientation was over the families were encouraged to stop by and purchase spirit wear before leaving.
