Nevill Wins Race for Mayor by 11 Votes

Incumbent Mayor Carter Nevill beat Town Council Member Renard Carlos in the campaign for mayor of the town of Warrenton. The vote count was held at 2,050 for Nevill and 2,032 for Carlos for nearly a week while provisional ballots were counted. The race for mayor was a close one, but Nevill was eventually declared the winner. When the race was finally called, Carter won with 2,072 votes to Carlos’ 2,061.

Nevill grew up in Warrenton, and owns the jewelry and gift store Carter & Spence on Main Street in Old Town. Nevill is an active member of the community who works with the SPCA and the Free Clinic. In an interview with Fauquier Now, Nevill said, “I feel it’s my responsibility to build strong relationships with not only town management, but also with the community.”
