Celebrate National Read Across America Day
National Read Across America Day was established today, in 1998, by the National Education Association. It was originally intended to help kids enjoy reading. In the past, some schools have conducted activities such as Stop Drop & Read or Book & Buddy Time to celebrate the day. In honor of the day, 10th grade English teacher Sonya Hopkins read “Trying,” by Kobi Yamaha and illustrated by Elisa Hurst, to her classes.
