Being an athletic trainer is no easy job, considering that having to care for all of the athletes can be very demanding. But the new athletic trainer Garret Farmerie is up to the challenge and has big plans for this coming year.
Farmerie started as a trainer at Jackson Outpatient Clinic in Manassas Va. This experience has helped Farmerie develop some goals for this year. Farmerie states, “ I would like to work with other trainers in surrounding counties to help get a new concussion policy.” This is a policy change that is quite overdue. The last update to this policy was 12 years ago. Another goal Farmerie has is to advocate for trainers with a new state-of-the-art injury tracking program.
Farmerie, in his personal time, is an avid chef stating, “I really like to cook, I even have a Foodstagram where I post mostly Thai and Korean food.” Farmerie is also a gamer and is currently playing an RPG game known as Elden Ring. Farmerie loves running and he competed during high school and college in cross country and track.
Farmerie went to Virginia Commonwealth University for his undergraduate degree and then attended George Mason University for his master’s degree. Farmerie is motivated to help athletes become their very best and coach them through injuries so they can go back to the sport they love. Farmerie is excited to get to know each and every athlete at Fauquier and loves the conversations he has with his athletes. Farmerie shows a lot of promise for Fauquier’s athletic department and has the well-being of his athletes in mind.
