Remembering Martin Luther King Jr.
January 20, 2020
Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a day observed every third Monday of January where all 50 states gather together to commemorate the inspirational life work and legacy of a great civil rights leader.
King was a visionary who made major strides in the civil rights movements of his time. He led many strikes, boycotts and marches advocating for equality and justice which tragically cost him his life in 1968.
He changed the lives of African Americans all over the United States and continues to impact the lives of those today. Because of King, many legislations have been passed against racial discrimination such as the Civil Rights Act of 1964 which made it illegal to mistreat a person based on the color of their skin.
In celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, honor his memory by attending local commemorative events, visit the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial in Wahington, D.C. or even stay home and read about his life work.
