Governor of Virginia Ralph Northam announced Virginia residents ages 16 and up will be able to receive the COVID-19 vaccine starting Sunday, April 18 on April 1at First Mount Zion Baptist Church Dumfries.
According to the April 1 press release, almost all high-risk Virginia citizens who pre-registered for the vaccine have received an appointment or will receive one in the next two weeks. Virginia has administered over 3.7 million doses at this time.
“Vaccine eligibility is limited in the Rappahannock-Rapidan Health District to those in the 1a and 1b and 1c priority groups, which includes all those 65 and olders, those between the ages of 16 and 64 with underlying health conditions and essential workers,” according to the Fauquier Times.
According to the press release, based on the federal government’s projected supply, all 35 Virginia health districts “will have enough vaccine to open appointments to the general public by April 18. Those at highest risk will continue to receive priority in the scheduling process.”
The release encourages all Virginia residents to pre-register “so they can be notified when they are eligible for vaccination and an appointment is available.”
