Caleb Crane, a junior at FHS, is a student in music teacher Andrew Paul’s Wind Ensemble class. Crane’s main instrument is the trumpet, however, in Wind Ensemble, Crane primarily plays the French horn. Crane also participates in the FHS marching band. The marching band plays at every home football game and the away games that are at Kettle Run or Liberty.

“I’m thinking of joining [the Fauquier] Community Band too,” said Crane. The Fauquier Community Band is a way for people to come together to learn and perform with each other. Crane has been playing the trumpet since sixth grade and began playing the horn this year.

In an interview with Paul about his choice for musician of the month, he said, “The reason I picked him is because he is also the junior drum major of the marching band.” The marching band wanted to play “Seven Nation Army” at the football games, so when Paul told them to write it out, Crane stepped up to the plate. Crane said, “We have pep tunes that we use at the game and I wrote one of them.”

When asked if he wanted to continue playing in college, Crane said, “I’ll mainly just keep it up as a hobby. It’s fun playing music, I just really enjoy it.”
