Dylan Roszel, a freshman at Fauquier High School (FHS), is a dedicated and aspiring musician. Rozsel started taking band class in sixth grade and has been a member for four years now. His passion for music grew when he decided to join the FHS marching band.
Roszel expresses his admiration for marching band, stating, “You’ll have a lot of fun, and you get to go to marching band camp and learn everyone’s names. [Kids there] will [become] your best friends.” Roszel also participates in the after group, known as The Talons of Steel. This steelpan group works hard, creating beautiful music and performing it at small concerts or during school activities.
Roszel has been interested in band since fourth grade, originally being inspired by his dad. “My dad would always talk about how he was in the band, and my oldest uncle was in a band,” he commented. Roszel plays various instruments, including the guitar and trombone. “My uncle had a trombonist named Dylan in his jazz band, and I wanted to do that because it seems cool,” Rozsel stated. His favorite part of the band is the music they play and the friends he made along the way. Roszel wants to continue to expand his skills and passion for band and eventually pursue it in college.
Roszel has participated in and enjoyed the Tri-County band for three years. To participate in the Tri-County band, one must nominate themselves or be nominated by their band director. If you make it on the list, you join three other high schools to practice a selection of songs and then perform at a concert the next day. “For one day, it’s stressful, but after the first day, you know the music, and you play for the concert. It’s fun.”
Roszel is a talented musician who strives to succeed in every aspect of his music career. He is a hard worker and is dedicated to mastering his music skills, which will continue to help him in the future.
