There are many spring break destinations that students enjoy visiting, from local areas to foreign tourist traps. Spring break can be anything from catching up on rest, travelling or just enjoying the free time.
Senior Nina Woodside is one of the many students at FHS who enjoys traveling for spring break. “I…think …Costa Rica is my favorite place that I have visited for spring break,” stated Woodside. Senior Kenzie Boyd is another student travelling for spring break. “I am going to Greece for spring break this year with my boyfriend’s family,” said Boyd. Both Costa Rica and Greece are beautiful destinations to swim in clear water, take pictures and soak up some sun. Woodside has travelled to many out-of-country destinations, including Peru, Spain and many other countries, saying that they all have been amazing experiences and is grateful to have travelled to each of these destinations. Boyd, on the other hand, typically stays in the country during the week off. Boyd has been to many places that are in the country that she recommends. Some of these destinations include Roanoke Island and sunny Florida.
For anyone looking to stay in the country this spring, Florida is a popular destination as well. Boyd recommended, “Going to Florida, because it is warm and tropical and it is a great place for people to visit.” Because Florida is such a diverse state, there are many parts that one could visit. Various places in the state include Panama City Beach, 30A and Clearwater Beach. Woodside, however, recommends “going to Belize for a tropical out-of-country trip.” Choosing day-trip destinations that are only a couple of hours away, like Sandbridge and Virginia Beach are a great alternative to traveling abroad.
Popular activities that students staying local enjoy participating in during spring break range from catching up on much needed down time to going out of the house. “I really enjoy tanning, shopping, and hanging out with my friends over spring break,” stated Woodside.
Because the weather is getting warmer outside and it is getting closer to summer, popular seasonal restaurants such as Carousel in Warrenton will be re-opening for the summer. There are plenty of other fun activities to do on one’s week off, such as going to the WARF or going into Old Town, Warrenton, to walk around the different shops and grab a bite to eat. Other places closer to Warrenton for a nice day trip would be a hike through Whitney State Forest or a day trip into Washington D.C.
In the end, there are many places that are recommended by different students and enjoyed by all that have visited. Whatever one decides to do, they will have fun regardless, with the time away from the stress of school work.
