FHS has a legendary theater program putting on amazing plays and musicals every year. This year’s musical was “The Wizard Of Oz.” The play featured four main characters, including Dorothy played by sophomore Eden Wagner, the Tin Man played by sophomore Landon Thomas, the Scarecrow played by freshman Niko Reutzel, and the Lion played by senior Mason Dean.
The cast did an amazing job on stage bringing every number to life. The singing was beautiful and the acting was amazing. The actors were very well able to convey the emotions that were going on in the scene and really make the audience feel what the characters were going through.
The show was a smashing success, as all of the actors were incredibly talented, and the final performance was Wagner’s favorite part. Wagner said, “Definitely just being on stage because that’s where I feel home.” Agreeing with her, Thomas said, “I think [my] favorite part is definitely the performance because it’s everything that we’ve worked for, put out for people to experience, and it’s a really cool feeling.”
The cast also enjoyed the audition process. “The audition process was pretty fun. I got to sing any song of my choice and that was about it and then we just went over the lines from the play,” Dean said.
The show was also an entertaining success because of the chemistry among the cast. “Everyone in the cast is very amazing. We all love each other… We hang out and we talk,” said Reutzel. This year was the first year that FHS partnered with Allegro Dance Studio. Allegro brought beautiful dancing and great vocals with students of varying ages with them. Allegro’s students were all very talented and had a wonderful stage presence. Allegro had prepared them very well to best perform on stage in front of a crowd and they did a phenomenal job. The technology was also very impressive. The lighting, sound and technical teams did a great job with their cues.
The cast and crew put so much hard work into making this show. It was very well done and directed with a very talented cast and crew. Once again, FHS theater has put a beautiful musical to the stage and upheld its amazing reputation.
