Out of the over 150 staff and faculty members at Fauquier High School (FHS), Jennifer Lowenbach is one of the many staff members that keeps FHS running. Located in the counseling office, Lowenbach’s primary role is assisting students with college applications, transcripts and scholarships, as well as answering phones and coordinating the counseling department.
Before her arrival at FHS, Lowenbach began her career in Fauquier County as a long-term substitute teacher at Warrenton Middle School. After the end of her contract as a long-term substitute, she stayed at Warrenton Middle School and became an instructional assistant for four years before coming to FHS at the beginning of the 2023 fall semester. She has been working at FHS for two years and has two kids, one who is currently enrolled at Kettle Run High School.
Lowenbach mentioned what she likes most about her job, stating, “I like the people I work with, but mostly, I like interacting with the students and helping them with what they need.” A student who has received such help from Lowenbach is senior McKenna Cupka. She has known Lowenbach since her arrival at FHS. Lowenbach helped Cupka with her college application process and offered loving support, “She always says, ‘You’ll end up where you need to be’ which is really reassuring to hear,” said Cupka.
Along with Lowenbach’s encouragement towards the students, Cupka mentioned her positive mood despite how she may be feeling at the moment. “She is always in a good mood towards everyone, even if she may be struggling with something, she will still be so kind to everyone and always has reassuring words to say,” she stated
In a learning environment, students can find it relaxing when the teachers and staff around them are happy and ready to help them. Lowenbach is the perfect example of this, she gives the students who ask for her help comforting and reassuring words and cares for them as if they were her own children.
