The French class at Fauquier High School (FHS) is renowned for its engaging and dynamic atmosphere, making learning a new language enjoyable and accessible. What many people may not know is that this year, students will have the exciting opportunity to go on a field trip to France! Students who are taking any French course can go on this trip but it does come with a cost that they will have to pay.
The field trip is from May 22nd to June 4th and can take up to 23 people. The cost of the trip is $3,745 but there are options to pay in installments over time. It includes the airline tickets, activities, breakfasts and dinners (not including lunches) and all transportation taken during the trip. Students choosing to go on this delightful trip will be spending six nights with a French host family, three nights in Paris and three nights in Annecy. Throughout the 14 days, the students explore much of France, while doing fun activities such as hiking and visiting medieval castles. Madame Goepper is the French teacher who hosts the field trip and she highly recommends anyone interested in the French language or culture to go on the trip. “I believe the best way to learn something is by experiencing it first hand .. I’ve had students who don’t know anything about France, but after going on the trip, fall in love with it,” Goepper shared.
Georgia Holzer, a junior at FHS, went on the field trip last year and had a fabulous time. She expressed, “I really enjoyed the food and the French people were very welcoming.” Holzer has been learning French since middle school and has come a long way in speaking the language. “Before Geopper I was shy and less confident speaking French, but now I feel I’ve grown a lot.” The French field trip is an exciting experience to explore more of the world while also learning about a new culture.
