The first-floor boys restroom has been shut down for the first time this year due to bodily fluids and leaks inside of the school restroom. The restroom was shut down for three to four school days, leaving some students confused on why people would do this to the restrooms. The restroom is located on the first floor, in the lobby. This event brought a memory of last year to the Principal Designee Jim Raines, he has recently expressed how he felt about the vandalizing.
Raines shut the bathroom down, saying, “My reaction was because of what happened inside of the restroom.”
Raines talked about why the restroom was shut down, saying, “The restroom was vandalized, stuff was stuck in the toilets, we couldn’t even flush the toilets. We called the plumbers. If the students can’t use it right, then they do not get to use it at all.”
Raines said it was extremely strange stating, “There were no signs, and this year was actually the first time I have seen this.”
Raines is hopeful that the bathroom situation will get better, “I really hope it doesn’t end up how it did last year, it happened way too much, I think the students got tired of it, so I hope they will help us patrol that, if they see something I hope they will say something, then we do not have any issues of closing them down.”
To try and prevent more bathrooms from being closed down, Raines said, “We have teachers in the hallway every class change, and we check the bathrooms regularly in between class changes…If it continues or gets worse, we do have a schedule, where I will have female teachers outside the female restroom, and male teachers outside the male restroom. And they will check them before and after class changes, So I have that schedule laid out last year, and we haven’t had to use it this year, and I hope we will not have to.”
