Over the past 63 years, Fauquier High School (FHS) has made a lasting impact on the community. From their dedication to students, to their passion for self-discovery, FHS has opened the eyes of thousands of students and staff. However, changing lives has never been a one-man job. FHS constantly has a rolling ball, trying to provide students with the best high school experience and the best staff to make that possible.
On Jan. 5, 2026, Principal Dr. David Ferguson announced his departure from FHS to accept a position in the Central Office for Fredericksburg City Schools. As this news spread across the community, FHS quickly took action and began their search for a new leader. With FHS being a foundational rock for Fauquier County, administrators and central office personnel knew that this journey would only be successful if the community worked hand-in-hand with the interview panel. “Dr. Warner and Central Office have sent out surveys to staff and families to get their feedback of what they’re looking for in the next leader of Fauquier High School,” Assistant Principal Nick Brousse commented. Finding a new principal with FHS’ values is no small task. For the time being, Donna Guzman has stepped up as an interim principal to fill the administrative gap. “[My goal for my time here is to] make sure that I’m really supportive of the students, giving them opportunities and encouragement and support where they need,” Guzman explained.
Students around FHS are anxiously awaiting the arrival of the new principal. Many hope that this new administrator will continue to expand the heart of FHS. “[I hope that the new principal continues to build] a better community,” freshman Samantha Auer said. Additionally, students are hoping that this new administrator will be engaged in student life and create lifelong relationships.
FHS has never failed to be a student forward environment. Everyday, the staff shows up with a smile, ready to keep the energy high. The school’s environment radiates friendship and dedication. The amazing team FHS has is one to be cherished. Without the hard work and passion of the amazing staff, FHS would not be the amazing family that it is today. Faculty and families are excited to see what’s next.
