Moms for Liberty is Wrong About Book Bans

Mom’s for Liberty is a civil activist group advocating for the banning of books in school libraries. Banning educational books for school purposes is wrong and something that students need to learn about. If the books were banned, students wouldn’t have these resources to use for projects or assignments. Even though some of the books may have “sexual content” in them, it’s mainly for educational purposes to learn about the body and its functions. These books may come across as “inappropriate,” but, in reality, they’re not.

According to Fauquier Now, Moms for Liberty was at a school board meeting on Aug. 22. Moms for Liberty discussed that they had submitted an additional fourteen books for removal to the school system. These books had “sexually explicit content,” says Amie Bowman, treasurer of the group. There were also three additional books submitted to be banned. While these books are in the process of being banned, according to Fauquier Now, it could take up to seventeen months, with one book being banned at a time.

Some may hear the word “sexually explicit content” and will take it in a different direction and make it worse than it actually is. Students might experience profanity or explicit content when reading, but students don’t necessarily have to pick up or read those books either. Students get to choose what they want to read. If someone gets offended by something in a book, then they have that choice to not read it.

When banning books, it increases the popularity of the book more which makes people want to read it. People want to figure out what that particular book is actually about and why it’s being banned. Moms For Liberty is wrong – banning books isn’t the key to escaping it or getting rid of the content in them.

Well, That´s because they are a Conservative body and That´s what that group thinks is best for Their interest and not the students.
