Nintendo has its community outraged with the release of the Switch 2. This release will have a heavy impact on the prices of games and consoles if every other gaming company releases it at this same price. Why is this price a huge problem? Because the console is $500, $200 more than the first one. That’s not even the worst part, because the physical games will be $90, and the games purchased through the Nintendo eShop will be cheaper at $80.
Gamers are furious with these prices, blaming the economy and corporate greed. Most gamers are right to think this because Nintendo is known for being very greedy and releasing unfinished or underdeveloped games. Nintendo released “Pokémon Scarlet” and “Pokémon Violet” in Nov. 2022. The games were released with multiple graphical and technical errors. Players would lose hours of playtime due to the lack of frames per second (FPS). However, in the end, the console itself has major upgrades.
The console may be overly expensive, but these upgrades can’t even compare to the first console they released in 2017. This new and improved console has everything the old one had, but it has been increased by 100 times. The storage space went from 10 GB (Gigabytes) to 256 GB, which is a considerable upgrade. Another thing that they improved was how smoothly the games run on the console by increasing the FPS (Frames per second). The old console saw FPS from 30-60, and the new one, 90-120, which is a very noticeable improvement.
The specifications of this new console are expensive, and a summer job may be required in order to purchase it right off the shelf at the market price. Despite the price, Nintendo gamers are still excited to see a new console being released. It has been a long time, eight years to be exact, since the last Nintendo console was released.
