POUND it out with Dee Dee Call.

Do you like to exercise? Do you like to workout? POUND is a program offered at the WARF based on using lightweight drumsticks and doing super fun exercises. Instructor Dee Dee Call said, “POUND is a cardio based workout using lightly weighted ripsticks, allowing you to become a part of the music, while working out by targeting all areas of the body with three different positions including lunges, swats and abs.” The workout is designed for all ages and is easily modifiable. Call said, “POUND is adaptable to any audience regardless of their physical shape, age or fitness level.” Every two to four minute song consists of you doing fat burning reps and doing cool techniques without even knowing it. Call said, “I think POUND is an excellent platform for anyone who is looking for that workout that is empowering and challenging, yet offers options for all fitness levels and truly embraces their motto, ‘every age, every stage.’”

POUND improves participant’s rhythm and distracts them from the high intensity of the music. This helps with being more focused on the workout. Having a good rhythm helps with the upbeat of the music and helps with how one listens to the music. Cardio workouts help relieve stress, anxiety, fatigue, lowers blood pressure and decreases chronic pain. POUND increases a higher level of thinking and decision making skills. “I found the choreography was easy for me to follow and learn, not to mention a rock out workout that felt more like fun than work,” said Call.

The classes are terrific and inspirational. Call said, “I was inspired to teach POUND by taking the classes and how awesome they were. I fell in love with it because it was something different and new. It was a new form of exercise I could stick with and not get bored. I knew I had to be a part of that and be able to share it with others. The fact that it isn’t one size fits all, it’s a great workout and not to mention it’s down right fun.”

POUND has been a great contributor to the community not just for Call, but for everyone. Call said, “I got certified in March of 2018 and never looked back. Being a POUND pro has opened so many doors for me in my community and I have met so many amazing people who I now call friends.” Being involved in this program has been a big contributor to Call’s life and fitness journey. POUND can open so many doors for whomever joins or who wants to become an instructor. “For me mostly I love what the brand represents. The building of a community, sense of belonging, the empowerment and flexibility of the options from a choreography perspective. I found POUND in the worst shape of my life and POUND was a big contributor for me to get healthier and live a healthier life.” POUND is a great way to start your fitness journey, but is also a super fun filled workout.
