Phillip Nobblitt was selected as Teacher of the Year at FHS. Nobblitt has been a teacher at FHS for eight years and has taught thirteen years altogether. Nobblitt’s impressively diverse career has included many other jobs such as a nuclear security officer, working in restaurants and in the food industry, as a full-service gas station attendant and in a lawyer’s office.
Being picked as a teacher for the year is a huge deal for Nobblitt. “I feel extremely honored to be selected. Thinking that it could be any of us up there. We have a lot of great teachers that work here at FHS and I’m proud to have represented [them] this year,” Nobblitt shared. Nobblitt thinks the award could have been awarded to any of his colleagues as well.
Senior Hailey Proccincini says, “I’ve had his class all four years of my high school career and he has helped me in so many different ways and I think he absolutely deserves it.”
Nobblitt loves working with the students here at FHS. He loves that students are willing to take risks and are very hard-working. “I love the family the staff and administration has always fostered for us here at the school,” Nobblitt says. Here at FHS the administration and students have played a big part in creating the school that Nobblitt loves. “He’s really good, but he’s really good at creating relationships with the students. If you ever need help with something like with your personal life he’ll be able to help you and talk about it”, Proccincini says.
Nobblitt has been selected teacher of the year in years past. “My first year teaching I was selected as teacher of the year in a subcategory, and that was at Madison County High School. I was selected as the Learning Teacher of the Year,” Nobblitt recounted. He never thought that he would be selected Teacher of the Year once again. It’s very rare for a teacher to be picked twice for Teacher of the Year. For all of the outstanding work that Nobblitt does for the school he definitely deserves the Teacher of the Year award.
