Golf Swings into Playoffs
Heading into the 2021 golf season playoffs, FHS is third in the district. Junior Tayte Mills says that he thinks the season has gone well. At the beginning of the season, one of the players had COVID-19 and two others were contact traced and placed in quarantine. “We got some of our top players taken out, but we won two out of our three matches without them,” said Mills.
In golf, the top six players face another six players from the opposing school. The goal is to shoot the lowest score. Athletes can be an individual winner and there’s a winning team. Mills was an individual winner in early March. The FHS team won two games as a team.
The typical golf season usually lasts around two months and may extend depending on the postseason. This year because of COVID-19, FHS is only playing John Handley High School, Culpeper County High School, Liberty High School and Kettle Run High School.
