Aliana Hawkins is a senior at FHS and is one of many star players on the varsity softball team. Softball has always been Hawkins’s passion, as it is the first and only sport she has played. Hawkins states, “My cousin first got me into softball because she used to play when she was in high school. Since she’s only a few years older than me, I always looked up to her.” Hawkins has made it her goal to always put her all into her games and go far with her softball career.
Hawkins keeps up her skills with the travel softball team, East Cobb (EC) Bullets. “I have played for many travel teams ever since I started playing softball, but EC Bullets is the one I am currently playing for,” she explained. Hawkins is also a strong supporter and ambassador of Morgan’s Message, the student athlete mental health organization. Despite Hawkins being a very strong athlete, she clearly shows she is also a very strong advocate for the importance of mental health among all athletes.
Hawkins’ love for the sport was made through her teammates over the years and the strong friendships she has made. “The relationships for sure are the best part about softball. I’ve built so many relationships, and there’s just so much to learn,” stated Hawkins. She continues by saying, “Softball and the people along the way have definitely shaped me into the person I am today, and the person I will become. I’m so grateful for this sport.”
College for Hawkins will be very exciting as she will be carrying on her softball career and making her dream of playing college softball come true. As she says, “I am playing in college and I am fully committed.” Hawkins will continue to carry on her charm and good sportsmanship at Mary Baldwin University.
