Many members of the student body are involved in sports at Fauquier High School (FHS), one of them being Analiese Wilson. Wilson is an active part of the varsity field hockey team as a sophomore. Field hockey is a highly successful sports program at FHS, with many students eager to participate. The varsity team has qualified for states for five consecutive years and hopes to continue its streak with the addition of new talent, Wilson, who has had a significant impact on the team.
Wilson has started her second year as a member of the field hockey team. She joined the team because “my friend really wanted me to.”
Wilson went from never picking up a field hockey stick before to starting on Junior Varsity (JV) and being on varsity just one year later, as a sophomore.
“I like playing field hockey, it’s very fun.” She added, “The team is very supportive, people there are really nice, and I’m actually not very bad at it.”
Wilson plays the position of left forward starter. She described this as a very active position, getting a lot of time on the field. Wilson has been working hard to get playing time, and it paid off. “I’ve been scoring a lot of goals and we’ve been doing really well.”
The field hockey team has had an outstanding season so far, having lost only one game. Her most significant highlight of the season was her first goal.
“Everyone was very excited about it, including me,” she recalled.
Wilson is an excellent addition to the FHS’s field hockey team, working hard and scoring goals. She has scored the most goals for the team so far, with a total of five and counting. The team hopes to continue winning games and making states for the sixth consecutive year.
