Gracie Bobak, a junior here at Fauquier High School (FHS) is a very hard working student and a talented athlete. Bobak has grown a passion for soccer over many years, “I’ve been playing soccer for 11 years now.” Being involved in many different sports throughout her childhood, Bobak had to make a tough decision, “I was playing five different sports and I chose soccer because it was fun.” Soccer became a passion for Bobak. However, nothing is ever perfect in life and there are always ups and downs and soccer has some setbacks, “When I was ten I almost quit soccer, then I switched clubs and just kept going.”
A student during the day and soccer player by night, Bobak manages both school and sports very efficiently, “After school I go home and do homework and then soccer is later at night; normally two hours a day, every day.” Bobak was filled with excitement when hearing the news about receiving a full-ride scholarship to Louisiana State University (LSU) for soccer and later verbally committed. “The facilities are really nice and the coaching staff is amazing.” Bobak’s biggest goals include going to LSU and playing soccer, hopefully becoming a professional soccer player and studying kinesiology. The recruiting process was a bit stressful for Bobak, but she pushed through and accomplished the big goal of being recruited.
Bobak’s game rituals to prepare for matches are very inspirational, “I always listen to the same music with my friend Katie and I always read the Bible.” Later, as a team, “we all pray before the game.”
All hardworking students and dedicated athletes need balance. In Bobak’s free time, Bobak enjoys fishing, playing guitar and being involved with the school’s softball team. A favorite show of Bobak’s would be the well known sitcom, “Friends.”
Some advice Bobak has for younger athletes is, “don’t give up just keep going. It’s hard. There’s people that are better than you, you just got to keep going and focus on yourself.” Bobak is a very enthusiastic person and will do great things in the future. LSU will be delighted to have such a well-rounded student and a great addition to the soccer team.
