The Fauquier High School (FHS) boys soccer season is coming up in a couple months. With the upcoming 2026 season, Senior Adelmo Chavez is ready for it. The 2025 season didn't go as hoped, the boys team lost in the first round of the playoffs. Players are motivated this year to make it further and are itching for the season to start.
Adelmo Chavez is one of the senior captains on the soccer team for FHS. Chavez's strong leadership and soccer skills is what made him a captain. “The position I played last year was striker and winger, but this year I'm going to play midfield,” said Chavez. He loves playing those positions and can't wait for the season to come. Chavez became a captain, “I think because of my leadership. Everyone else saw my leadership in the team, so that's why they voted for me.” He brings high energy and heart to the team, and that's why the FHS boys soccer team is very close together and fun to be a part of.
The team has high hopes for this upcoming season. Chavez explains the goal is to, “get past the playoffs and go far in regionals.” he continues, “The environment on my team is super close. We have a good team bond, and I think that's what makes us so good this year,” Chavez stated. Practices are everyday after school from 3-5 p.m. and Chavez described what a typical day of practice looks like: “We get there, do around two laps, do drills and at the end we just play a scrimmage… Chavez continued, “We usually get prepared on how the other team plays and make tactics.”
The boys FHS soccer team is ready for the upcoming season and can't wait for it to start. Right now in the off-season they are doing scrimmages so the coaches can pick the best players for when the season starts. The team hopes to make it far in the playoffs and the students and staff are here to support.
