“Deadpool and Wolverine” is an action movie that was released in July of 2024, and is currently available to watch on Disney+. The movie is entertaining and keeps viewers on their toes. It stars Hugh Jackman as Wolverine and Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool. The film follows the story of how Wade Wilson rescues Logan from being held captive. Together, the two of them work to save the universe from the Time Variance Authority (TVA). Jackman and Reynolds provide comic relief throughout the movie and embrace the character’s personalities. Despite the plot including lots of violence, the actors manage to keep the story lighthearted at times.
The movie is mostly centered around the two characters, Deadpool and Wolverine; Reynolds and Jackman were cast perfectly for the roles of Deadpool and Wolverine. Together, they did a great job of making the characters loveable and entertaining to watch throughout the movie. One of the most iconic scenes in the film is at the beginning, where Wade Wilson dances to the song “Bye Bye Bye” by *NSYNC. The humor and plot of the movie were enjoyable, but compared to the previous movies in the “Deadpool” franchise, it did not stand out as much. Reynolds and his charming personality really bring the whole movie together along with Jackman’s iconic acting style. One of the characters that truly brings more life into the movie is Blind Al, played by Leslie Uggams. Her witty comebacks to Deadpool’s statements are amusing to listen to. The animation and CGI of the film were top-notch and appeared very lifelike throughout the movie.
There were not many major flaws in the movie, but one of the smaller flaws was the lack of screen time for minor characters, such as Jennifer Garner’s Elektra. Garner had not played Elektra since her side role in 2003 in the Marvel movie “Daredevil,” and in 2005 in her own movie, “Elektra.” Another flaw in “Deadpool and Wolverine” was how there was a lack of emotional depth in the film and there was not much emotional connection between the two main characters.
Like in the previous movies of the “Deadpool” series, this film was a huge success, bringing in a total of $1.338 billion, making it the highest-grossing R-rated film in the world. Overall, this movie was a huge entertainment and financial success.
