“Super Meat Boy 3D” is a video game that dropped on March 31, 2026, for PC and all next-gen consoles. The game is about the character “Meat Boy” who saves his girlfriend “Bandage Girl” from an evil doctor. The game adapts the original 2010 game and turns it into a 3D platformer, with its sole goal being to make the player rage.
Graphically, the game looks stunning and cartoonish, but it doesn’t have the same charm as its original game, “Super Meat Boy”. Despite this, its attention to detail is amazing, and the cutscenes are almost cinematic, especially the opening cutscene. The soundtrack is also incredible and really sets the tone for whatever level the player is on. Every song and every moment feels unique, and no two tracks sound the same.
Gameplay is where the struggles are. While the game is very fun and rage-inducing, some parts can be too frustrating as the fixed camera angle makes it hard to see where the character is. In the settings, the player can enable an outline of “Meat Boy,” but it still detracts from the overall experience.
The story is almost identical to its original game; however, it’s spiced up with 3D elements. The final levels of the game are very brutal and punishing. A fun detail is that in any level, whenever “Meat Boy” dies, the character’s look gets slightly worse and more beat up. “Super Meat Boy 3D” manages to still be rage-inducing. The game isn’t forgiving either. Whenever “Meat Boy” dies, no matter what, the player is sent back to the very start of the level. With every world and every level, the difficulty ramps up.
“Super Meat Boy 3D” has lots of content, taking five to six hours to beat, and can be easily replayed to beat the developers’ part-time, which means their fastest attempt. Overall, “Super Meat Boy 3D” is a great, challenging platformer that manages to take a fresh spin on the “Meat Boy” series while still making players angry.
