“2XKO” is a new fighting game that is currently in early access. The Riot game has been in early access for about a month starting October seventh and is planned to release late 2025. It combines many elements from popular fighting games while still being incredibly inventive with its new ideas. “2XKO’ is a masterpiece of interaction and character design.
At first glance, the most striking element of the game is its absolutely stunning visuals, the art style is beautiful and the characters pop against the background with bold black outlines. The sound design is fantastic and enhances the feeling and impact behind every hit. The musical score was underwhelming, but not bad. The design of the waiting lobby for online play is fantastic. Moving around in a 3D space where you can jump on things and run around is so much more engaging than a waiting screen and presents the opportunity for funny moments.
The tutorial is fantastic and presents the player with the perfect amount of information trusting in the game’s approachable design which works fantastically. The user interface (UI) is simple and intuitive, not overbearing or ugly. “2XKO” is a masterpiece in approachability and is easy to understand. Everything is in a place that makes sense and is easily accessible.
The gameplay is easy to learn and hard to master. Anyone can pick up a controller and do a combo, but only a master can dominate neutral. Part of this is because the characters fit their archetypes very naturally, and their gameplans are extremely easy to understand even with a cursory knowledge of their moveset.
A character like Darius who wears armor and uses a massive hulking axe has a playstyle that is easily graspable just from his design alone which is to the game's benefit. The game has a large variety of characters who fit into different archetypes and sub archetypes. For example, characters Jinx and Vi play completely differently but still compliment each other very well.
“2XKO” is a great game for both beginners and experienced players, with fantastic art and sensational gameplay. It’s a great starting point for people trying to get into fighting games, especially because of its free to play nature. As a whole, it's an absolute knockout.
