With the new year arriving at Fauquier High School (FHS), the school has welcomed many new staff members. Some of the new staff members who joined the school this year include great teachers and outstanding people such as science teacher Sara Ansteatt, Physical Education teacher Sabrina Phillips, ESL teacher Megan Kleinhans, science teacher Austin Evans, special education teacher Teresa Camarca, math teacher Polyn Ean, math teacher Will Jenkins and English and theater teacher April Poland.
Many of these new staff members had a strong year which is amazing for anyone new to FHS. Ansteatt shared, “the school community has been very welcoming.” and Kleinhans, Jenkins, and Camarca all had, “a great first year!”
Even though most hope every year should be positive for staff members, there were difficulties and challenges this year. One common issue between these 1st year staff members was learning, “classroom management,” both Ansteatt and Jenkins stated.
The positive experiences of this school year have far outweighed the negative moments. Jenkins stated that, “starting and running the esports team here at FHS has been a blast.” The Esports team has been very successful this year so it’s no surprise that it was a positive for Jenkins. A great and heartwarming experience Camarca has had all year is “Working along with my own children, Maria and Bruno.”
Some great memories this year were, “the Unified Track Meet at Forest Park,” Kleinhans commented, alongside an “esports tournament we attended at Kettle Run,” Jenkins said. Another great memory from Ansteatt was, “Making relationships with my students.” One of the great things about relationships is students being very friendly and kind to these teachers no matter the class, making it a friendly and healthy environment for staff members. Camarca had said that she “watched my daughter play goalie for the Field Hockey team.”
With every year, new staff members are welcomed to FHS and bring their love and passion for their jobs with them. These first year staff members will hopefully continue to grow as a team and enjoy their futures at FHS!
