Fauquier High School (FHS) school student or fashion icon, senior Sebastian Prendes doesn’t just wear clothes; he stages a riot against the modern minimalist aesthetic, looking less like a passerby and more like a high-voltage relic who just stepped off a 1984 world tour bus.
Fashion across the ages is something most people overlook. It has evolved so much over the years, and some like to draw inspiration from the past. Some take inspiration from music, just like Prendes, “I take anything just from bands that I really admire. So, Iggy Pop, things like that,” Prendes states.
Most of Prendes’ clothes come from thrift stores and not big labels. “You don’t have to spend so much money on big corporate establishments, but rather you could just use the local businesses and the small shops. People spend so much money on brand names,” Prendes says.
Another thing about fashion is that sometimes it can affect how people feel, or better yet, a reflection of how you feel. “I mean, it could be a reflection of how I feel. I haven’t really noticed that it affects how I act during the day,” stated Prendes.
Just as fashion has evolved over the ages, people’s tastes can change too. “I stopped worrying as much about what I wore. I just started wearing what I wanted to wear.” Prendes says that sometimes all people need to do is just not worry so much about what they wear. Something about fashion is that it can represent a lot of things for a person, but for Prendes, “It represents my interests and the bands that I listen to.” Sebastian Prendes is not afraid to break social norms with his passion for fashion.
