Senior Addie Gorg is an inspiration to all as she balances her life between captaining two varsity sports, being a Co-President for Morgans Message and running a majority of the Fauquier High School (FHS) Instagram accounts. Lighting up FHS with unmatchable energy, Gorg shows up for her peers as a Zoo Captain during school sporting events and as a prevalent member of the YoungLife bible study group community in Fauquier County. In addition to her schooling and extracurriculars, Gorg continues to impress with the recent completion of a half marathon in Washington D.C.
As a dedicated athlete who has played Lacrosse since fifth grade and Field Hockey since 8th grade, it is no surprise that Gorg captains both varsity teams. As a captain and a Co-President for Morgan’s Message, Gorg strives to promote the importance of mental health, especially in student athletics. “Morgan’s Message is a program focused on eliminating the stigma surrounding mental health … So it’s a big deal for me as a captain of both of these teams. [It is] something I strive to encourage my teammates to talk about because conversations normalize it more,” Gorg says. Gorg’s dedication is highlighted by her effort both on and off the field as she navigates the balance between two jobs and numerous hobbies.
Gorg’s two jobs include working for her parents and being paid to create content, mainly on TikTok. The second job was inspired by Gorg’s interest in majoring in graphic design. “I’ve always been really into social media and making graphics …so this is similar to content creation,” Gorg says. She will continue chasing this goal by moving to Salt Lake City, Utah, after graduation to pursue either a major in Religious Studies or Graphic Design at the University of Utah. This has led to Gorg managing many of the FHS Instagram accounts, creating stunning posts to promote the FHS clubs and athletics. Gorg continues to show up not just for her school, but for herself in all of her goals and interests.
This same lifestyle is again proven by her completion of a half marathon in Washington D.C. Even with the busy schedule of being a senior in high school, Gorg found the commitment to start practicing in January. “My sister ran a marathon, and she’s 23 so I felt like I needed to step up a bit…it just seemed really fun and I’ve always liked running,” Gorg says. All of these dreams have been accomplished because of how hard Gorg works to pursue them, believing in a life that holds no boundaries. “I like to load my plate…the most that I can do, I want to do,” Gorg states.
