With the start of the school year, Fauquier High School (FHS) welcomes many new faces in the education department, including Teresa Camarca. Camarca teaches Algebra I in the Mathematics and Special Education department. She loves teaching, and the story of her love dates back a long time. “I was a homeschool mom for many years with all of my children, and I loved the teaching aspect of it all,” she shared.
Before joining the FHS staff, she worked as an accountant. Camarca attended the University of Dayton in Ohio and developed a vision of teaching. “This is my fifth year at Fauquier, but it’s my first year teaching,” Camarca stated. Before teaching, she worked as a library assistant for three years and assisted students in classes who needed extra help.
Many appealing things can attract new staff members to FHS, but what attracted Camarca the most was the fact that “my children have gone and some still do go here.” She has two children who are currently students here at FHS, Bruno and Maria Camarca. Bruno is a freshman, and Maria is a senior.
Camarca has a profound connection to math, as she stated, “I love algebra, and I like the math portion of it all. I feel like I can connect with the students.” Camarca is a strong member of the staff body; however, there are some weaknesses in her performance, one being that, “it’s her first year teaching.”
FHS is very unique compared to others. Camarca states, “We are a family here at FHS.” All the students and staff have great relationships with one another. Her favorite part of the job is “the students, I love teaching them and just being involved at the school.”
There are many new faces in the FHS staff department this year. These teachers are excited for the upcoming year, with Camarca being a great addition to the math department. The school welcomes Camarca to her new position after a long time of being at Fauquier, and she can’t wait to teach it.
