Fauquier County is full of people who want change and are looking to make a positive impact on the community. Raeid Ebrahim is a local advocate hoping to improve the lives and environment of Fauquier County.
Ebrahim, an Fauquier High School (FHS) alumnus, has lived in Fauquier County for most of his life and participated in extracurricular activities while at FHS.
“Mainly I was on the academic team all four years of high school … and in my last year, senior year, I was actually MVP [Most Valuable Person] of the team,” stated Ebrahim. Two years after graduating from FHS in 2023, Ebrahim earned his bachelor's degree at the University of Virginia (UVA).
Currently, Ebrahim advocates for the well-being of the Fauquier County residents and environment, standing against local issues. As stated by Ebrahim, “I really like to advocate on a local level. Affordable housing is a big thing, the cost of living, fighting poverty and investing heavily in public education.”
Ebrahim is also a strong supporter of protecting the environment, opposing the construction of data centers due to their negative environmental impact, including excess water use and land usage.
Ebrahim has recently spoken at local events in Fauquier County, addressing important issues in the area. After discussing budget cuts across the county, Ebrahim has seen an impact from his efforts.
“At a town of Warrenton budget hearing, I spoke out against cuts to the budget of the Warrenton volunteer fire department; they still ended up cutting [the budget] a little bit, but not as much as they said they were going to,” said Ebrahim.
Ebrahim is one of the many people in Fauquier County who speak out about change, putting his effort into what he believes in. Without his efforts, many problems affecting the county may not have come to light.
