From students to mentors at Fauquier High School there is a program offered called Teachers for Tomorrow. This program allows high school students a chance to experience what it's like to work in a classroom. During fourth block, students in this program travel to elementary schools to assist teachers and students while also learning themselves.
Seniors Addison Raible, Sydney Beachboard and Reese Crider shared some thoughts about the program. Raible explained that they go three times a week and learn a lot about teaching strategies. She said, “I love seeing the kids, they're super sweet and it's just a great way to end my day.”
Beachboard enjoys interacting with the children and gaining hands-on experience. She hopes to help students grow emotionally and become the best possible version of themselves. Crider, on the other hand, joined the program to gain experience for her future career as a pediatric nurse. Something she is looking forward to is building connections in the classroom.
Teachers for Tomorrow gives many high school students valuable experiences, leadership skills and insight to working with children. For many students it's a lot more than just a program, it's a stepping stone toward their future careers.
