The FHS prom was Saturday, April 20, and the Prom Court was announced that night at the dance. The court consisted of five couples: Allie Strickland and Chase Leazer, Grace Jones and Jake Miller, Eden Moldonado and Marshall Graham, Ali Patusky and David Achter, Billy Brooks and Ashley Heflin, and Talon Ritenour and Kate Cornwell. Then, finally, Mason Riley and Wyatt Shaw as the prom queen and king.

In order to be on the court, you had to be nominated and then voted for. Graham shared, “I have no idea how I got nominated… Mrs. Green called me into her office the day before prom… and she was like … ‘you’re on prom court,’ and I was like ‘okay’ so then I had to go.” Ritenour also shared a similar experience, saying, “I honestly don’t know, I didn’t put myself on there, I just happened to be on [the ballot].” However, some of the others did nominate themselves. Moldonado says, “I nominated myself, and then all my friends nominated me, and I made a post about it.” No matter how they got on the ballot, many students were happy to see them there.

At the end of the dance, Riley and Shaw were announced as ‘24 royalty. Emotions were running high and thoughts were wild, as Shaw said, “It was pretty cool, and it was a nice moment to have with Mason.” Riley said, “I was honestly really shocked. First off I was like ‘If I don’t win-’ this is kind of embarrassing, and if I don’t win I’m gonna be sad,’ but it was fun.” Shaw also shared, “It was definitely a positive experience overall, and winning helped me and Mason grow closer.” The court was definitely a memorable way for all of the court to finish off their senior year.
