Everyone who lives in Warrenton knows that spring doesn’t exclusively bring blooming plants and lots of rain, it also means that the town’s favorite ice cream shop, Carousel, is opening back up.
Carousel opened recently the week before spring break. One notable thing about Carousel, other than its amazing food and great atmosphere, is its friendly workers. Although most employees are high school students, it does not mean they do not work hard and make Carousel the memorable place it is. Carousel is a great and safe place for teenagers to hang out, make friends and work. To many students, it is important to have at least one job during high school to teach a good work ethic and to learn the value of money. Carousel is the perfect option. Jack Gwennap, a sophomore at FHS, expresses how much he loves working at Carousel. “I have worked there for about three years and it is really fun. I have a lot of friends there and it is a really good work environment,” Gwannap said. Brian Bland, another sophomore at FHS stated how he feels about the workplace environment at Carousel, “I’m having a great time at the Carousel so far. It’s just like a big family and we are all friends with each other too.”
Carousel hires teenagers as young as fourteen, but only if they have a workers permit. The application process is fairly easy, just forms and an interview. “It was not too bad. It was just like a couple of questions and they made you provide your email and phone number and stuff and then they give you an interview,” said Bland. Everyone knows Carousel is a great and happy place to be, and luckily it will remain open until the leaves start changing color in the fall.
