With prom season approaching quickly, the theme for the big night has already been decided: “A Night Under the Stars.” That being said, there is talk about which prom outfits are in style. Senior Madelynne Martin, a member of the Student Council Association (SCA), has helped plan proms in previous years and is helping out this year. She says that the styles that will most likely be on trend this year for prom dresses will be darker colors that go along with the theme.Martin says, “I am really hoping to see lots of ruffles in dresses. I love ruffly dresses. I think the best places to buy these prom dresses are from Windsor, Lulu’s and Revolve.”
Other students attending and helping plan prom, such as junior Khloe Poole and junior Kirsten Clark, add that Amazon and Macy’s are good places to shop. “I have a feeling that they will be a little bit more elegant than last year, like the brunch-style dresses, but a little bit more sparkly,” shared Clark. Conversely, Poole said, “I think a lot of navy blue, silver and gold dresses with lots of sparkles will be in style. I also think that lots of poofy dresses are going to be in style.” For menswear for prom night, Macy’s is also a great place to find tuxedos. Other locations include Gentleman’s Guru and Tuxedo Junction. Tiffany Tankut, a marketing and fashion marketing teacher at FHS, says that Warrenton Jewelers is another good place for students to find tuxedos. Junior Max Green, one of the many guys who will be attending prom this year, stated, “I’m matching my tie with my girlfriend’s dress, and my suit is from Warrenton Jewelers.”
On the other hand, students love traditional preparations such as nails and hair. Junior Ximena Arellano has her own nail business that is based out of her house. Arellano is doing a $5 discount for prom sets. Simple nails have been a trend, which will be a possible inspiration for anyone looking to have a prom manicure. An important part of prom is the hair. One of the many great salons in Warrenton is Salon Emage Day Spa. It is an excellent place to style your hair for the exciting night. Hairstyles that have been in trend for previous prom nights include half-up half-down, curled hair and straight hair. Lots of other hair trends include fancy updos.
There is a lot of potential for the upcoming night. “I hope that the DJ is really interactive with the students, and I hope that the decorations match the theme well,” said Martin. The theme of “Night Under the Stars” has a known color scheme of darker colors, more cool-toned shades and metallics to match the starry night theme. It’s an exciting night that is coming around the corner quickly, and there is a lot to prepare for, especially with the news that the dance is going to be held off campus.
