For two long years, Ghost has forged their new album, “Skeletá”, which was released on April 25, 2025, and is Ghost’s sixth studio album. “Skeletá” has made its mark on Ghost’s discography, with a majority of the songs having a place among Ghost’s greatest hits. The songs “Lachryma” and “Peacefield” were especially popular in the setlist.
Ghost is a Swedish metal band that made its debut in 2006. The theatrical band consists of many unnamed and masked members, collectively known as “Nameless Ghouls.” The Frontman of Ghost is “Papa V,” a persona created by Tobias Forge, the band’s founder. Many of Ghost’s songs have a distinctively spooky mood, with most featuring heavier backing tracks. The band has produced many great albums, each with its own unique “Papa” and a distinct rendition of the metal genre. They released their first album, “Opus Eponymous,” in 2010. Along with the release of “Skeletá,” Ghost announced a world tour titled “Skeletour.”
The glam-metal album, “Skeletá”, consists of ten tracks, with the most notable being “Lachryma,” “Peacefield,” “Satanized” and “Umbra.” The songs on this album sound as if an ’80s rock band made them. The songwriting Forge brings a nostalgic feel to the opening track, “Peacefield,” having a similar sound to “Separate Ways,” by the band, Journey. The song, “Lachryma,” combines an ‘80s rock feel with heavier elements. The album delves into the topic of human emotion, with “Satanized” exploring the subject the deepest. The song surrounds the concept of how people are being “Satanized” for actions that they can’t control. The musical genius, Forge, not only put emotion and meaning into the lyrics, but he also conveys emotion with the backing track of the vocals. Even if the listener doesn’t understand the meaning of the lyrics, each song feels good to listen to. Most notable is the infectiously groovy feeling of the cowbell and the epic shredding of a guitar in the song “Umbra.”
“Skeletá” has definitely earned its place in Ghost’s catalog of albums, being widely accepted by a majority of fans as a great album. This album is a fantastic addition to Ghost’s already impressive discography, with each song evoking a positive feeling when listened to. Forge is undoubtedly an amazing songwriter who has created many excellent albums over almost two decades, infusing emotion into all of Ghost’s songs. Ghost, for the sixth time, has released an amazing and soulful album.
