“Inside Out 2” was released on June 14, 2024, and is the sequel to the original “Inside Out” movie. The original movie explores the inside of a girl named Ryleigh’s mind and its complex characters. Ryleigh is a teenager navigating through the upcoming struggles of becoming a teenager while managing her strong, newly developed emotions. “Inside Out 2” reaches the audience by using vibrant animations and emotional depth to represent how complex the human mind and emotions are. This movie is perfect for growing teenagers and parents to watch to show how important it is to keep morals and healthy goals in life to support human minds and thoughts.
A highlight of “Inside Out 2” was its ability to capture emotional depth while keeping the movie light and funny, which created the perfect family movie. The characters in this story are Ryleigh’s inner emotions and feelings. Each of the different emotions in her mind controls how Ryleigh reacts to certain situations she faces in life. The characters have various characteristics and personalities that display their role in Ryleigh’s mind.
As mentioned, the movie was a sequel to the original “Inside Out” and included a great mix of the old characters and showed fresh faces into the story. Four new characters are introduced, which help add details and personality to each one of the emotions inside Ryleigh. These new characters helped express the widespread emotions felt when getting older and stuck out in the story. “Inside Out 2” is a great movie, however, the two voice actors from the first movie, “Inside Out,” were unfortunately not cast in their original roles. Bill Hader and Mindy Kaling were the two voice actors who played Ryleigh’s two inner emotions, Fear and Disgust, and were not featured in this sequel. Although the voice actors were replaced, these two actors initially captured the emotions of Fear and Disgust perfectly. Unfortunately, they did not have as much attitude in their roles, which initially made the characters stand out from the others. If Mindy Kaling and Bill Hader were featured in “Inside Out 2,” it would improve the Fear and Disgust characters by adding their old, sassier personalities. The new emotions were introduced more chaotic, similar to how it can feel to go through puberty. Many of the new emotions added in this movie felt easy to relate to, especially for many teenagers going through challenges with their mental health.
While this movie targets a younger audience, it teaches deep life and mental lessons that are important for teenagers and parents to understand. This story highlights how people think of others and themselves and how crucial the foundation of their thoughts and emotions is. The advanced and colorful animations in this movie helped give depth to each character and their traits. The vibrant colors of each character and setting added to the vibrant landscape shown throughout Ryleigh’s mind and her inner emotions. Many of the challenges faced throughout this movie were a reflection of Ryleigh’s mental state and how she handles conflict and stress. “Inside Out 2” is a fantastic watch for parents, children and teens to help them understand the importance of emotions and how much they have a hold on our daily actions and movements.
