“Percy Jackson and the Olympians,” the long awaited adaptation that hit Disney+ Dec. 19 has fans thrilled with the quality. The on-screen adaptation of the New York Times best selling book series of the same name, written by Rick Riordan, has people of all ages happily entertained. The show grabs the attention of both loyal readers as well as people new to the series with its exciting plot. With fast paced action, such as sword fighting and fleeing from monsters, as well as watching the characters grow and learn how to work together to save the world, there is no room for boredom for anyone who watches.
The series stars 15-year-old-Walker Scobell, a new and quickly rising star, as the main character Percy Jackson; Leah Jefferies, previous model and actor, as Annabeth Chase; and Aryan Simhadri, a Broadway singer and actor as Grover Underwood. Scobell made his acting debut in the Netflix series movie “The Adam Project,” where Scobell plays a witty, dedicated character, much like the role he has now. Scobell manages to embody the character in the show as well as having a “sassy” personality off screen, and with that he shows many good qualities of an actor. When playing Annabeth, Jefferies very well portrays the smart and dedicated character, showing how Annabeth can get annoyed but also still really cares for her companions. Simhadri’s debut was in the off-Broadway show Trevor: The Musical. Grover is a passionate and kind soul, but he is also very clever in solving problems. Simhadri shows all the deep emotions his character has in a delicate and beautiful way. Percy Jackson and the Olympians is an amazing show for all ages, no matter how much background you have in the series.
