“The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins” was released on Feb. 23, 2026, making it one of network television’s newest additions. The first two episodes aired back-to-back, and new releases will drop every Monday for the remainder of the 2025-2026 TV season. While some might say this comedy is a breath of fresh air, others were disappointed by the lackluster script and underwhelming storyline.
The show follows a mockumentary format, exploring the redemption arcs of former NFL player Reggie Dinkins (played by Tracy Morgan) and ostracized director Arthur Tobin (played by Daniel Radcliffe). After both Reggie and Arthur experience career-ending incidents in their respective fields, they come together to make a documentary that will rewrite both of their stories.
The comedic aspect of the show relies heavily on Reggie’s character, with many scenes exaggerating his impulsive and immature personality. He clearly fits the trope of the slow-minded yet lovable dad; however, his naivety goes from funny to annoying very quickly. While Reggie could serve well as comedic relief in a more dramatic plot, the structure of him being the main focus is a bit redundant and unentertaining.
Daniel Radcliffe’s character, Arthur, is the only saving factor of this show. Radcliffe’s performance stands out as he brilliantly portrays the high-strung British filmmaker. His experience shines through, making Arthur’s subtle humor feel unique. Despite this, both Radcliffe’s and Morgan’s acting feels unnatural and exaggerated.
“The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins” is neither offensive nor enticing. While the premise had potential, the comedy unfortunately fell flat. Audiences can only hope the show will find its footing soon.
