FHS was given the opportunity to take the theater department to New York City to go see live Broadway shows, participate in workshops with the actors and enjoy the amazing place that is New York. Students got to experience the amazing atmosphere of New York and now have those lifelong memories that won’t be forgotten.
Freshman Glenna Moore was one of the many students that got to experience the magic of the trip. She stated, “It was very cool, we got to see “Hadestown”, “Back to The Future” and “Kimberly Akimbo”. Hadestown was my favorite though.”
There are endless amounts of tourist attractions in New York that the students also were able to enjoy. “The Broadway museum was also very cool,” freshman Ryleigh Seeling said,“We got to do a workshop with Jordan Fisher who plays Orpheus [in Hadestown].” Another attraction students were able to see was Ellen’s Stardust diner, a diner that has many singers that sing Broadway songs and also work as the waiters and waitresses. Moore said, “They sang ‘Be Our Guest’ from the very popular Disney film ‘Beauty and the Beast,’ ‘Dear Theodosia’ from the Broadway show ‘Hamilton’ that is about one of the founding fathers, and also sang many songs from ‘Six,’ a musical about King Henry the Vlll and his six wives.”
The students who went on the trip enjoyed the experience and new view on big city living compared to the small town of Warrenton. Moore and Seeling both agreed that Times Square was a very fun way to end the day and that they enjoyed the trip.
