Blaine Smith Tosses Shutout, Blanks James Wood, 6-0
In their first Northwestern District Matchup of the season, FHS defeated the James Wood Colonels 6-0 behind a five hit shutout from senior Blaine Smith. The offense got going early in the first as Matthew Graham’s infield hit scored a run. Followed by a two run single by Ethan Brown to extend the lead to 3-0. Smith would help himself out by knocking in a run in the second inning. Shortly after, Henry Davenport had an RBI single which plated a run as another run scored on an error, making the game 6-0. Pitching with a comfortable lead, Smith was able to work through the Colonel’s lineup completing his shutout with a strikeout in the seventh inning. After the victory, the team will travel to Leesburg to face Heritage on Thursday looking to record another victory.
