As the winter holidays approach, so does the craving for delicious sweet treats. One tasty recipe that many can enjoy is the delightful M&M holiday cookies. These flavorful cookies are sweet, moist, and chewy with a burst of chocolate, and they add a colorful mix to any dessert tray.
Due to M&M’s diverse production of their product, bakers have the opportunity to make this recipe for other holidays, such as Easter, Valentine’s Day and Halloween.
These cookies are made the same way as traditional chocolate chip cookies, but they have a unique twist. The recipe includes instant vanilla pudding mix; this unfamiliar ingredient may shock some, but it definitely brings the cookie together and makes it an unexpected and mouthwatering sweet treat.
Some suggestions to alter the recipe to make it more unique and better suited to the palate would be to substitute the M&M’s for Reese’s Pieces for a completely different, out-of-this-world flavor. Another option is to use different-sized scoops, depending on whether one wants a bigger or smaller cookie.
Ingredients needed:
1 stick softened butter
½ cup granulated sugar
½ cup packed light brown sugar
1 large egg
½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons instant vanilla mix
½ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
¾ cup mini chocolate chips
1 or 1 ½ cups mini or regular sized M&M’s
Instructions:
Step 1: Preheat oven to 350° F.
Step 2: In a mixing bowl, beat together the softened butter, granulated sugar and light brown sugar until creamy. Add in the large egg and vanilla extract. Mix again until well combined.
Step 3: In a separate bowl, stir together the flour, pudding mix, baking soda and salt. Add creamed butter mixture and stir until well combined. Then add in mini chocolate chips and M&M’s.
Step 4: Get a cookie sheet pan (more than one if needed) and line it with parchment paper. Use the desired scoop to scoop the dough and place it on the cookie sheet.
Step 5: Place the pan in the oven and bake for about 10-12 minutes.
Step 6: Take out your cookies and let them cool. Once they are cool, enjoy your fresh homemade cookies.
