Over the past year, many new movies and shows have been released, one standout being “Happy Gilmore 2.” This movie was released on July 25, 2025, and has skyrocketed in the film industry. “Happy Gilmore 2” was released exclusively on Netflix and has yet to surpass the overall gross of the previous movie, “Happy Gilmore.” Many of the same actors appear in this movie, including top-class actor and comedian Adam Sandler and his old opponent from the previous film, Christopher McDonald, who plays Shooter McGavin.
“Happy Gilmore 2” is a golf thriller in which the main character, Adam Sandler, plays Happy Gilmore, known for hitting extremely long drives. Happy joined the golf tour in the first movie, “Happy Gilmore,” despite never having picked up a club in his life. Later on, he went on to win the tour championship. The start of “Happy Gilmore 2” shocked many people. Happy’s wife is no longer part of his life after a tragedy on the golf course. He then throws his clubs away and decides he no longer wants to play golf, letting this one incident change the course of his life.
Happy becomes a little overweight and develops an alcohol addiction. A sport in which he was once an icon and a superstar is now forgotten. Happy’s kids tried to help him get back into golf, but he refused. Until his daughter received a letter in the mail, everything changed once again. His daughter was accepted into a prestigious ballet school, and he promised to pay her tuition. His only option to do so: play golf again.
Everyone was expecting the hype and laughs for “Happy Gilmore 2,” based on how well the first one performed. Twenty-nine years later, it hit big, with many loving it even more than the first.
However, there are too many unnecessary cameos, with a total of seventy cameos in “Happy Gilmore 2.” Despite that, a standout cameo was that of golf legend John Daly, who delivered a naturally funny performance.
Strong elements of nostalgia, the celebration of the original classic golf movie, and its abundance of humorous and ridiculous moments make “Happy Gilmore 2” a great film. The actor’s comedic performances and the movie’s overall vibe made the viewing experience the best possible thriller.
