“The Bad Guys” are back, and they’re more appalling than ever, with their iconic music that never disappoints. The movie was released Aug. 1, 2025, with Sam Rockwell voicing Wolf, Anthony Ramos voicing Pirana, Awkwafina voicing Webs, Craig Robinson voicing Shark, and Marc Maron voicing Snake. The film maintains the same nostalgic feel as the first movie while telling a completely different story. The movie opens with a classic car chase, much like the first movie, and takes viewers back a few years to Webs’ first mission with “The Bad Guys.” The viewers are then taken back to the present time, where the group is still together and remains the same. Wolf is still Wolf, Pirana is still singing, Shark is still acting, Webs is still on the web, and Snake is now… zen? Snake has entered his calm and tranquil era, doing yoga for fun, which is a very out-of-character thing for him to do since he’s known for his short temper and grumpiness.
The plot centers on the crew’s struggle to be accepted in their new lives as “good guys” and explores the difficulty of second chances. After “The Bad Guys” turned good, Mr. Wolf and his crew–Snake, Shark, Tarantula and Webs are desperately trying to figure out the whole “good guys” thing, and the first step to living normal lives as good citizens is to get a job. Despite the support from Governor Diana Foxington, a trusted friend, society isn’t ready to forget The Bad Guy’s criminal past. While most of the crews have found jobs, Wolf still hasn’t and is facing many challenges. After all, who wants to hire an ex- con? Just when things couldn’t seem to get any worse, The Bad Guys quest for redemption is hijacked when they get framed for a crime they did not commit.
The soundtrack for this movie is just as great as the first, heightening the exhilaration that keeps kids and adults on the edge of their seats. This is because the songs go perfectly with the movie’s joyful and downcast moments, cranking the action up to 100. It keeps its viewers entertained by adding a lot of dynamics to the movie without washing out the characters. Some of the most well-known songs in this soundtrack include “GOODLIFE” by Rag’n’Bone Man, “Taking Everything” by Busta Rhymes, and “I Like It” (the Dillon Francis Remix) by Cardi B, Bad Bunny, and J Balvin.
In addition, the animation style is amazing and very similar to the first movie. It has only minor stylistic differences that enhance the movie’s quality. The added effects make the film much more enjoyable and interesting. It does an extraordinary job of capturing the attention of its viewers, children specifically, and moves at a comfortable pace without going too fast or too slow. Small animation elements, such as facial expressions and body language, are on point and help viewers identify how a character feels in certain moments and scenes.
The movie had various silly moments that often made the audience laugh out loud. It had many jokes for children, as well as some for adults and older kids, making the movie very inclusive. It’s even the highest-grossing film of 2025, placing fourth among animated films, indicating its great success. “The Bad Guys 2” is a great, family-friendly movie that is enjoyable for all ages and definitely a must-see.
