A new 2025 addition to Netflix is “The Wrong Paris,” released on Sept. 12, 2025, directed by Janeen Damian. “The Wrong Paris” tells the story of Dawn, played by Miranda Cosgrove, a girl with a dream of attending art school in Paris, France. Although Dawn can’t afford the trip, she tries to find a way to make up the money. Dawn was given the opportunity to appear on a reality show called “The Honey Pot,” which she believes will be set in Paris, France. That served as a primary motivation for her audition. However, when Dawn walked out of the plane, she was in Paris, Texas. From there, the movie evolves into a classic rom-com, with sparks of lust for both romance and profit.
“The Honey Pot” is a reality dating show where a group of female contestants pursues one man. On the plane, Dawn met all of the girls who were going to be on the reality show, including contestants like Lexi (Madison Pettis), Cinderella (Madeleine Arthur) and Jasmine (Christin Park). Each of these characters brings their own drama to the movie, driving the plot with their unique personalities. The other contestants got kicked off the show the first week, which makes Dawn, Lexi, Cinderella and Jasmine the main participants of “The Honey Pot.”
Pierson Fode, who plays Trey McAllen, expertly played his part as a homegrown cowboy who becomes the unwitting star and bachelor of “The Honey Pot.” Pierson’s and Miranda’s chemistry was surprisingly undeniable, and sparks flew in every scene they had together. Pierson’s entrance was beaming, and he was impossible to ignore. Miranda absolutely killed her part as a hard-to-get girl, making the performance more authentic and her character captivating.
“The Wrong Paris” might be cliché, but the chemistry, classic plot and their acting roles made it enjoyable. The main characters played their part wonderfully, especially in the scenes when it was just the two of them. The fact that director Ryan Coogler used the context of reality dating shows made it more watchable and creative as well as more detailed and realistic.
“The Wrong Paris” is one of the best rom-coms out there. It’s charming, funny, romantic, full of heart and somewhat dramatic – everything that makes a perfect rom-com. It has become a comfort movie worth rewatching, as “The Wrong Paris” is everything a romantic comedy fan could ask for.
