Freshman Henry Stanislaw shared his unique fashion style, which combines retro and modern influences. For a more casual look, he takes inspiration from artists and actors such as Tom Holland, but his oldened style is influenced by older musicians such as Stephen Sanchez to show his love for 1950s fashion. His unique use of accessories and love for older clothing create a diverse style that stands out.
He describes his style as a mix of pop culture while also including a unique combination of country looks. He enjoys adding accessories such as hats, necklaces, bracelets and flannel shirts. They give his outfit personality and provide a new look to each outfit daily. At school, he prefers to dress differently than some of his peers, avoiding pajamas, sleepwear or overly casual looks. Stanislaw said, “My clothes and fashion style are very different from the others.” He believes his unique taste for fashion describes him as a person and “it stands out too.” It is important to him to look presentable to class and to show effort in how he dresses and presents himself.
While inside school, Stanislaw prefers to dress up still and look put together and presentable; he wears an entirely different attire at home. Outside of school, he enjoys wearing 1950s retro clothing, where he often wears long button-down shirts with black pants and accessories such as hats. Stanislaw stated, “I try to look a bit different…something that describes me.” He likes to wear retro clothing as his signature style to stand out from regular appearances and looks. Around his friends at school, he prefers to keep his daily look more relaxed with flannel and jeans. His signature clothing choice reflects his personality and love for vintage clothing and fashion.
Stanislaw strongly dislikes fashion trends that appear messy and slouchy, such as sleepwear worn in public. Stanislaw stated, “I hate that people wear pajamas out…it makes them look messy.” He prefers a more put-together, classic appearance for his style. Even when he is not dressed in 1950s retro clothing, he still maintains a put-together look, where he typically wears jeans, flannel or a nice t-shirt paired with accessories to pull the fit together. To achieve this unique look, he hunts for vintage clothing on sites such as eBay to find the pieces that fit his old-fashioned aesthetic.
Henry’s retro-inspired casual style sets him apart with a timeless and unique look. He confidently mixes many vintage pieces of clothing, creating an appearance that shows his individuality through his clothing.
